Fender bender on Monday

Sitting at a red light when a geezer behind me in a Dodge truck let his foot slip off the brake. Now my wife's cute little van looks like a turtle that someone has kicked in the ass with a steel toed boot. Fortunately the guy had insurance, and he didn't dispute anything. I called 911, as required by law, but the cops didn't send anyone. WIth the new layoffs required by our city administration's fiscal incompetence, the cops around here no longer bother with any car crashes unless someone is bleeding.

Speaking of cop shortages and our beloved mayor, sometime over the weekend an elderly couple got hit. The woman was killed and the man was beaten almost to death. They were the mother and step-father of a police sergeant. Methinks it would not do for our esteemed mayor to be caught out in a situation where he needed a cop real bad anytime in the near future. At least, if I were a cop, he would be well advised to carry a tube of vaseline with him at all times. Because it would be a sure thing that I would finish my donut and my second cup of coffee before I responded to any call for help from that guy.

It's been cool an cloudy most of the time since we got back. The kind of weather that drains ambition. I have been trying to make some progress on the next chapter of Lerteiran, with only partial success. Distracted and I are consulting about several simultaneous plotlines. This thing is getting bigger than I am. I also have some drawings that a young man put together for me a while back. They are preliminary, but very good as far as they go. I want to pull them into a CAD program and make some more detailed deck plan layouts for Lerteiran sometime. Don't ask me when.

I'm just tired.

I absolutely love this phrasing of that kind of weather. It is my least favorite type of weather. They (medical field) used to describe it as seasonally disaffected something but your line is so much more accurate and emotionally truthful.

I don't know if it's the lack of sunshine, or the damp air that hurts my joints. But I haven't even finished that Beta of Chapter 10 for Panysan yet, and I promised it more than a week ago. Plus I am way behind on Lerteiran. Plus I haven't touched any of my projects around the house. Completely useless lately.
